Najat Al Saied is a former Researcher at Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR) in Abu Dhabi, UAE and was an Assistant Professor at Zayed University in Dubai from 2014-2018. She is a columnist in Al Ittihad (an Arabic language newspaper published daily in the United Arab Emirates) and also columnist in Al Hurra (an American satellite television news channel in Arabic). She is specialized in political and societal development communication geared to modern and tolerant Middle East.

She was the Head of the Young Professionals Program (YPP) at the Islamic Development Bank in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; Education and Media Specialist at the US Consulate in Jeddah; Editor-in-Chief of women e-magazines in the Saudi Research & Publishing Company in Dubai; Multimedia Specialist in the World Health Organization in Washington DC and the Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in Washington DC.

She is the author several books and chapters in books: Screens of influence: Arab satellite television and social development, Media in the UAE: creating a national voice, Arab Media Moguls and Handbook on Arab Media, Fashion and women's sport in the Arab Gulf States, and others. Her book, Twitter Diplomacy Before and After the Abraham Accords, will be published in March 2022. She published several articles in Israel Hayom, Jerusalem Post, Jewish Press, the Gatestone Institute, Gulf News, Al Arabiya English website and others.

She earned her Ph.D. in Media Studies at the University of Westminster in London-UK. She holds two Master Degrees in Health Promotion Disease Prevention and Computer Information System from American University in Washington DC.


"Twitter Diplomacy: Media Polarization Before and After the Abraham Accords" is a journey about the polarization between the left and the right media in the United States of America and the United Kingdom and how this polarization is reflected in the coverage of the foreign policy related to the Middle East. This journey affords new insights into Twitter Diplomacy, enabling the ability to better understand the influence of Emirati and Saudi Twitter Diplomacy in the polarization of mainstream media in the United States of America and the United Kingdom. This polarization has been against the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on these four main topics: the Qatar diplomatic crisis, the war in Yemen, Iran, and the Muslim Brotherhood.

This journey explores that Twitter diplomacy is insufficient, when used in isolation, to counter the political polarization of the American and British mainstream media and its bias. Additional supportive tools of public diplomacy and soft power are required to face the pattern of bias. The historic Abraham Accords are one of the supportive tools to debunk the destructive narratives, bias and disinformation pedaled by American and British mainstream media through media alliance among Abraham Accords countries. This alliance will not only help to combat the bias and disinformation, but will also help to establish independent successful media outlets that offer quality news coverage.
